We are delighted to host two much-travelled contemporary artists, Piero Serra & Simington who will be displaying their work in the Barwell Room from Tuesday March 10 th to the end of May. With very different styles and techniques, the two friends chose to collaborate on this exhibition entitled ‘Architectural Heads/Flower Heads’. Serra, who trained as an architect, was born in Northampton. He shows us his extraordinary drawings which were partially inspired by architectural forms soon after he moved to Berlin, where he still lives. Serra who trained as an architect, was born in Northampton. Simington’s work shows us constructed composite images, which can be made up of multiple layers, to create worlds which take on a life of their own. Liam was born in Scotland, has lived in both Japan and Egypt and now resides in Northamptonshire. House and Galleries are open Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 4.30pm. A small entrance fee applies for visits to the heritage house but entry to all exhibitions is free.

Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 11 November - Sunday 12 April 2026 Throughout history, both men and women have created art, yet only a select few have been remembered within Western art history. Art by men was historically valued more highly than art by women, reflecting broader beliefs that only men could possess artistic or creative genius. Certain genres and mediums were also considered more prestigious, while work made in the domestic sphere was dismissed as craft or decoration rather than recognised as fine art. Women were barred from studying nude figures a crucial part of classical art training until the late 1800s. Second-wave feminism in the twentieth century, and wider social changes in the twenty-first, have challenged these hierarchies. Today, women are at the forefront of artistic production, with artists such as Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling, Rachel Whiteread and Jasleen Kaur recognised as leading voices in contemporary art.

Free Basketball England event, which is taking place on Saturday 14th March – 10.30am- 1.30pm at Northampton School for Boys. The event is ‘Her World Her Rules’ and is aimed at offering girls the chance to play 3x3 basketball (which is a more urban version of the sport, shorter games with a resident DJ there).

Candlelight® brings two romantic musical experiences to Northampton this Valentine’s season The concert series presents two string-quartet programmes: Valentine’s Day Special, showcasing timeless love songs and film themes, and Best of Bridgerton on Strings, featuring music from the beloved Netflix and Shondaland series Northampton, January 2026 - Candlelight®, the series of live concerts presented by Fever, brings a romantic experience to Northampton to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Held at The Guildhall Northampton on 13 February, the concert will feature a string quartet performing timeless love songs and iconic film themes, including “Unchained Melody,” “La Vie En Rose,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “My Heart Will Go On,” all reimagined in an intimate candlelit setting. Candlelight: Valentine’s Day Special, now embraced as a new tradition by audiences around the world, During the Valentine’s season, the Candlelight® series also presents the Best of Bridgerton on Strings concert, scheduled to take place at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery on 14 February. We are delighted to host two much-travelled contemporary artists, Piero Serra & Simington who will be displaying their work in the Barwell Room from Tuesday March 10 th to the end of May. With very different styles and techniques, the two friends chose to collaborate on this exhibition entitled ‘Architectural Heads/Flower Heads’. Serra, who trained as an architect, was born in Northampton. He shows us his extraordinary drawings which were partially inspired by architectural forms soon after he moved to Berlin, where he still lives. Serra who trained as an architect, was born in Northampton. Simington’s work shows us constructed composite images, which can be made up of multiple layers, to create worlds which take on a life of their own. Liam was born in Scotland, has lived in both Japan and Egypt and now resides in Northamptonshire. House and Galleries are open Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 4.30pm. A small entrance fee applies for visits to the heritage house but entry to all exhibitions is free.

An exhibition of artworks from NMAG's collection celebrates the variety of genres, methods and media used by women artists, from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 11 November - Sunday 12 April 2026 Throughout history, both men and women have created art, yet only a select few have been remembered within Western art history. Art by men was historically valued more highly than art by women, reflecting broader beliefs that only men could possess artistic or creative genius. Certain genres and mediums were also considered more prestigious, while work made in the domestic sphere was dismissed as craft or decoration rather than recognised as fine art. Women were barred from studying nude figures a crucial part of classical art training until the late 1800s. Second-wave feminism in the twentieth century, and wider social changes in the twenty-first, have challenged these hierarchies. Today, women are at the forefront of artistic production, with artists such as Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling, Rachel Whiteread and Jasleen Kaur recognised as leading voices in contemporary art.

Northampton Museum and Art Gallery presents a solo exhibition of the stone carving of sculptor Nicolas Moreton to the public. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 17 January - Sunday 22 March 2026 The artist has been described as 'a modern master of the medium of stone carving' and his works are collected worldwide. The exhibition has two strands celebrating human life and the force of water.
